About KRU Wheels

KRU is a new brand of wheels and components founded by a group of italians, particularly a former lead engineer from Deda Elementi.

Their first products include a large range of carbon wheels, clinchers and tubulars, characterised by interesting technological innovations.

ZERO MAINTENANCE HUB
The hub, entirely engineered and designed by KRU offers performance comparable to that of ceramic hubs while also maintaining exceptional durability. It is in fact guaranteed to be maintenance free for 200,000 kilometers. Their patent “Enhanced Bearing Performance” avoids bearings compression and slower rolling of the wheel in case of excessive tightening of the quick release skewer. The wheels are also customisable with stickers and coloured caps.

MOUNTAIN-PROOF RIMS
The rims are characterised by a special material, the “Vapor Grown Carbon Fiber”. This substance, which originates from the aerospace industry, makes the compound thermally conductive so that heat generated while braking quickly dissipates on the entire surface of the wheel. Consequently, KRU Wheels reach temperatures that are 30% lower and can resist descents that are twice as long as competitors’ products. This makes KRU wheels dolomites-proof.

EXCEPTIONAL DURABILITY
To further improve the durability of their products, KRU has developed numerous technologies in order to maximize the ability of their wheels to withstand wear and use.
“SELF ADJUSTING SPOKES” is a technology that allows the perfect alignment of the spokes from the flange to the rim, making the wheels more resistant to heavy loads and limiting the risk of rupture of the spokes.
“SEAMLESS LAMINATE CONSTRUCTION” improves the lamination process of the wheel by making sure that continuous material is used as much as possible instead of applying traditional methodologies where different pieces of carbon are joined or glued together. This limits the risk of cracking and breaking and the resulting product is solid and free from weak points.

KRU at Eurobike 2016

As you know, we have attended Eurobike 2016 where we presented numerous new Kru products.

Our collection now includes not just high performance wheels, but also ultra light components such as classic and aero handlebars, an ultra light stem and an integrated cockpit.

We have also taken a few pictures from our stand that show some of the distinctive features we announced and are delighted to show them to you.

DRAFT BOX

You can see our aero cockpit with the mount for a draft box you can use to carry tools and accessories.

COMPUTER MOUNT

Below you can see the mount without the draft box. This is designed to support cycling computers (such as Wahoo and Garmin) but also the Shimano Di2 junction box.

SUPER COMPACT CURVE

Our signature “super compact” curve design for the Aero cockpit and Aero handlebar allows for a wide range of degrees of brake levers set up and very fast hand movement.

HUB CAP

Our hub caps are available in several colours for personalisation and are designed to add style and protection to KRU wheel hubs.

KRU HUB

Below you can see in detail our patented hubs and signature skewers.

KRU in the news: BDC-MAG

Popular Italian cycling news site and community BDC-Mag has visited us at the Eurobike Show. Piergiorgio from BDC Mag (Bici da Corsa) has asked us several questions about our new products and taken a few pictures of our wheels and components.

We are happy to share with you the article they have written titled “Eurobike 2016: KRU about some of the products we announced here in Friedrichshafen such as the K-Class Cockpit, an incredibly light integrated stem-handlebar combination. The post includes details and pictures of both our wheels and components.

Here are some of their quotes translated for those of you who don’t speak italian:

“It’s always a pleasure when in the exhibition we come across a new brand with interesting ideas”

“A very interesting product is the tubular disc wheel, which is built as a single monocoque piece.”

“The hub is one of KRU’s strongest elements. Completely developed and patented by them, they are characterised by a unique system that avoids the loss in performance seen in many wheels due to over-tightening of quick-release skewers. Furthermore, the external parts of the hub can be personalised with covers available in various colours.”

Here is a brief overview of the topics covered by the article form BDC Mag:

  • Insights into our story and the technologies we have developed
  • Pictures of our wheels (carbon clinchers, carbon tubulars and carbon alloy clinchers)
  • Detailed photos of our components (K-cockpit, handlebar and stem)
  • Information on the various accessories we are developing for the cockpit, including a computer mount and a storage box
